SAN JOSE, CA -- 1,500 users of Echelon Corporation's LonWorks technology flocked to the Santa Clara Conference Center in May for the 1998 Spring Conference, "LonUsers: Networking Your World." The two-day event, produced by San Jose visual communications company Tam Communications, featured a variety of speakers, exhibits and presentations which highlighted some of the newest and best developments in LonWorks networking technology.
Tam Communications managed the four general sessions in their entirety, handling everything from 3-D animation to backstage support. Four Tam-produced video openers introduced LonUsers to the general sessions, and two Director presentations aided conference speakers. To ensure consistency throughout the show, the Tam team also provided a PowerPoint template for all speakers, and created a dynamic 3-D animated logo to emphasize the conference's theme. Finally, Tam designed the look of the event and hired all vendors, as well as coordinating the conference from behind the scenes.
The four graphically intensive video openers utilized an upbeat, fast-paced feel to convey the nearly limitless possibilities for Echelon's technology, which is used to connect products that monitor, sense and control buildings, homes and industrial sites. Video showing LonUsers at work in a variety of industries combined with energetic music and bright graphics to create a visually arresting and exciting presentation. A less elaborate accompaniment to the videos, the conference logo also communicated the universality of LonWorks technology and its potential for expansion.
"'Spectacular,' 'first class,' 'moved up to a whole other level' were some of the responses from attendees and Echelon staff as they entered the general session room and as the program and keynote presentations unfolded," said Marcia Pugsley, Manager of International Programs for Echelon Corporation. "My experience in working with Tam continues to be a pleasure. Their ideas are creative and in tune with our business and they were willing to work within my budget. We depend on their counsel and find their suggestions and ideas accurate and tasteful. I will certainly call on Tam again and would recommend them readily."
Tam's Michele Bertolone wrote and produced the media for the event, and also served as the conference director on location. Tam Fraser directed and edited the videos, with post-production assistance from Ed Cook. Tam's Graphics and Interactive Group also played a prominent role in media creation, with art direction by Sandra Silva, 3-D animation by Aaron Dingman, design by Sunny Su, and integration by Nathan Guerra. Stage Manager Jeff Cowan saw the event to completion, and HiC Luttmers provided backstage technical support.
