SAN JOSE, CA -- Tam Communications announced today that its recently completed documentary Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers will be broadcast nationwide on the Discovery Channel at 9:00 p.m. on November 22, 1998.
Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers takes a close-up look at an elite branch of the United States Coast Guard, the Aviation Survivalmen or rescue swimmers, as they conduct real-life rescues while battling the forces of nature. Rescue swimmers put their lives on the line to save people in situations ranging from at-sea emergencies in 30-foot waves to hikers stranded on windy sea cliffs.
The one-hour program, created by Tam Fraser and Susan O'Connor Fraser, uses on-scene action footage, historical material and interviews with rescue swimmers to tell its unique and compelling story. San Jose-based Tam Communications sent its production team to the East Coast and the Pacific Northwest to capture footage of dangerous life-saving missions for the piece, as well as material documenting the intense training that rescue swimmers must undergo.
Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers is the second documentary produced by Tam Communications for the Discovery Channel. October's premiere of Street Medics signified the beginning of Tam's relationship with Discovery Communications, and Tam is currently developing several other documentaries, both for the Discovery Channel and for other broadcasters of entertaining nonfiction programming.
