SAN JOSE, CA -- To inform new employees about all of its services, San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) hired San Jose-based Tam Communications to create an orientation video which would present a full picture of the agency. Far more than just buses, the SamTrans story includes administration of Caltrain, local transportation improvements, special transportation for people with disabilities, and involvement with the SFO/BART extension project. Tam's six-minute piece gives new hires a concise overview of all the people and services of SamTrans.
Tam's production crew, led by Director Tim George and Writer/Producer Michele Bertolone, spent two days in San Mateo County and at SamTrans facilities, capturing images of agency activities and employees at work, and particularly emphasizing the breadth of occupations within the company--everyone was included, from the CEO to the vehicle maintenance workers.
In post-production, Art Director Sandra Silva and Artist Sunny Su completed the video with an elaborate graphical mask, used as the introduction to each section. John Barrett performed the off-line editing, and Ed Cook served as online editor.
"Tam Communications' staff were pleasant to work with, had creative ideas, and were on time or ahead of time on the project," said Nancy Marsh, Employee Programs and Development Officer for SamTrans. "The finished product is lively, informational, and eye-catching. We are all very happy with the video. Because it's so professional, we're proud to show it to new hires."
