SAN JOSE, CA -- For the third year in a row, Tam Communications staged the annual, international conference for Echelon Corporation's LonWorks technology. Tam produced the entire event, creating four videos and speaker support, hiring the European staging vendors, directing the show on-location, and providing technical consultation. The Amsterdam event boasted an audience of over 1,000.
Tam opened the conference with an effects-heavy video centering on E-Control, the conference theme. Shot on location at Grand Central Station in New York; the Harbour Inne and Cottage in Mystic, Connecticut; and Gordon Biersch Brewery in San Jose, the footage was treated to real-time motion effects, made possible by Tam's mini DV-CAM—a digital camera capable of producing slow motion, selective blurring, and other effects while shooting. An original music score, composed by Pat Mosca of Mosca Music, completed the piece.
The four videos were directed and edited by Tam Fraser. Michele Bertolone and Jeff Cowan split producing duties, with Bertolone writing the four video scripts, Cowan directing the show in Amsterdam, and both handling the vast array of details demanded by the extensive project. Timothy O'Connor Fraser served as the on-location technical consultant.
Marcia Pugsley, Director of International Events for Echelon, commented on the success of the 1999 show: "We were very pleased with the results of the conference and exhibition. We feel we have moved into the big time with the quality of our general sessions and exhibit hall."
