Tam Communications Shines at Joey Awards

SAN JOSE, CA -- Tam Communications was once again recognized for its achievement in developing outstanding entertainment and corporate media. On October 30 at the Joey Awards ceremony in San Jose, Tam was honored with three Joeys. Preemies: The Fight for Life, a one-hour documentary produced for the Discovery Channel, earned "Best Original Music"; Coast Guard: Survivors, also created for the Discovery Channel, received the "Best Entertainment Program" award; and "Flight Through the Watershed," a 10-minute piece about environmental protection, merited the "Best General Audiences Training/Education Video" designation. Tam also received six Awards of Excellence in other video, multimedia, and television categories. Founded in 1982, the Joey Awards acknowledges achievement in broadcast, print, and interactive media.

In addition to submitting its work for Joey evaluation, Tam Communications also contributed to the awards show by donating its time and services to the San Jose Film & Video Commission, producers of the Joey Awards. Tam editor Ed Cook spent several days working with Joey Awards producer Wendy O'Hara to create the kiosk videos, which played in the reception hall before the show. Further, Tam developed a 3-D logo and opening video to kick off the awards ceremony. The opening program, a parody of The Blair Witch Project, was written by Tam's Michele Bertolone and produced, shot, and edited by several members of the Tam staff.

Said O'Hara, "Tam Communications made great contributions to the 1999 Joey Awards, as they have in so many years past. Their hilarious opening spoof received many chuckles from the audience—the perfect way to start the show. We also could not have had clips of all the nominees displayed in the foyer if Tam had not donated several days of editing time. The Tam Communications team is great to work with—flexible, creative, and professional."
