The online presentation, targeted for systems designers, was developed as a special section of Altera's corporate web site. Tam's full-motion web site provides viewers with a unique, movie-like experience: a five-minute tour of the Internet's infrastructure, with stops along the way at the various pieces of equipment that power today's Internet. Viewers see the diversity and prevalence of Altera products in the exploding communications marketplace as they encounter APEX devices throughout the tour. The site features a full narration track, so is intended only for users with high-speed connections to the Internet.

"Altera needed a presentation that would position them and their products at the forefront of technology," explained Susan O'Connor Fraser, writer and producer for the project. "Therefore we created this site using today's most advanced web design tools, employing both the medium and the message to position Altera as an industry leader and cutting-edge company."

Tam Communications' Sandra Silva created the art and integrated the site elements using Macromedia Flash. The television-like experience represents the latest approach to special promotion web sites—a key market for Tam's combined video, multimedia, and web experience.
