SAN JOSE, CA -- Tam Communications' one hour television special Preemies: The Fight For Life continues to gain national and international recognition, winning two new awards, including the prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Award. This is Tam Communications' third Golden Eagle Award and its third award for Preemies.
The CINE Golden Eagle Awards celebrate excellence in non-theatrical documentary, short feature, educational and corporate film and video productions. The non-profit Council on International Non-theatrical Events also enters Golden Eagle winners in international festivals, which will further raise the Tam special's visibility worldwide.
Preemies was also recently honored with a U.S. International Film Festival Silver Screen Award for informational television programming. The yearly competition honors documentary, television, informational and corporate productions.
Preemies takes viewers inside the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where they witness the struggles of premature infants and their families, and the heroic medical efforts of the doctors and nurses of the NICU.
Preemies originally aired on the Discovery Channel in September of last year and is airing currently on Discovery Europe. The sequel to the successful special, Infants: Fight For Life, is scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel in
September, 2000.
Preemies' executive producers were Tam Fraser and Susan O'Connor Fraser. Michele Bertolone produced, and Pat Mosca composed the score.
