Scotts Valley, CA –Interestingly enough it was San Jose-based Altera Corporation’s 10 Year Anniversary that first brought Tam Communications and Altera together. Tam was hired to create a version of their 10 year anniversary video to be shown at their Japanese sales office. Little did the two companies know at the time but that one project would spawn a relationship that would last, at least, ten years. For Altera, a leading provider of programmable logic solutions, that would mean contracting Tam to create videos and multimedia presentations for sales meetings, marketing programs, web-based customer testimonials, recruiting, product demos, and trade shows.

Their latest co-venture was the creation of the 20 Year Anniversary Video. Susan O’Connor Fraser wrote and produced the project with Tam Fraser directing and editing. The program featured interviews with Altera old-timers and newcomers as well. It told the story of what Altera was like in the old days in both serious and humorous ways and presented the reasons for the company’s success. Retired Chairman and President, Rodney Smith, opened the video, while the current CEO, John Daane, wrapped it up, thanking the employees for all their hard work and noting the bright future that is still ahead of them. In addition, the video included snippets from Altera offices from around the world, congratulating the company on all that it had accomplished. And for added humorous bits, Tam’s creative efforts included integrating old skit videos, funny videos that had played at Altera sales meetings which featured Altera employees. The end result was a 20-minute time travel experience that was well received at the company’s big event.

The event itself, documented by the Tam team, included speeches by the company’s three founders and the presentation of an award by San Jose Mayor, Ron Gonzales. Following the official program, Altera employees and guests were treated to great food, music by Joe Sharino and a steel drum band, and carnival-like games for the offspring of Altera employees. The Anniversary video played throughout the event in the company’s cafeteria.
