Scotts Valley, CA - After two issues of the successful English version Solutions CD had been replicated en masse for Foundry sales reps and customers, it was time for Foundry to explore production of a Japanese version. Foundry turned to Tam Communications to manage the project, which included translating the CD’s interface and entire menu structure, integrating new Japanese pdfs, and adding more video content. The CD includes product data sheets, a corporate presentation, white papers, application notes, and customer success stories.
Tam’s Creative Director/Executive Producer, Susan O’Connor Fraser brought translation company International Contact on-line to handle all translation requirements. Artist Mike Baxter and Integrator Jason Guerra were ready to handle their respective duties to take incorporate all Kanji elements into the existing art and then integrate the new menus respectively.
The additional video content involved shooting a new customer testimonial in Japan, finalizing a video shot earlier in the year with a representative of the University of Tokyo and translating five other videos from English into Japanese. Foundry’s corporate video would include two Japanese voice talent while four English language customer success stories would be subtitled. Tam Fraser had the task of editing all the new video material so that it could then be compressed into flvs (flash video files) and integrated into the flash-based presentation.
O’Connor Fraser worked with both a San Jose-based client at Foundry Networks and her Asia counterpart based in Hong Kong. Regular teleconferences and web-based reviews helped keep the project on track.
The finished CD-ROM was mass replicated and shipped to Japan in time for N+I Japan. All 500 copies of the CD-ROM shipped directly to the show were given out to trade show attendees. A DVD of the Japanese version of the Corporate Video also played as a continuous loop inside the Foundry booth.
