Scotts Valley, CA - “We’re running away with the carnival.” That’s what executive producers Tam and Susan O’Connor Fraser were telling friends and associates all summer long as they worked on their pet project, “The Carney Life”. The series, a weekly half-hour reality program, follows the family-owned Butler Amusement carnival as they travel from town to town throughout from February through October.

The goal of the production (which began before Christmas of last year) was to acquire footage for a short promo and potentially the first four to six episodes of the series. The promo, now in post-production, will be shopped to several cable nets. Country Music Television has already expressed interest after seeing an early cut of the promo. “There are several potential outlets for the series,” notes Tam. “In addition to CMT, it would be great at a women’s network because of the strong female characters. It would also be a natural fit at A&E and ABC Family among others. It’s a really fascinating and colorful world that we believe viewers will be interested in. And through the summer we’ve encountered and followed some great characters that viewers will connect with.”

Stops this summer included Indio (Riverside County), Santa Maria, Oakland, Bakersfield, Fresno, Pleasanton, Lakeport, Turlock, and Merced. If Tam secures a buyer for the show, series production would mostly likely start in February of 05 with additional locations to be part of the schedule including fairs in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, and Idaho.
