SCOTTS VALLEY, CA--Tam Communications announced that it has taken delivery of a new edit system, an Avid Adrenaline HD System has been added to its roster of editing capabilities. The company chose the Avid system after researching other available systems and with a keen understanding of what it needed a new edit system to do. Working with Avid Media Composer since the early 90's, migrating to a non-Avid system would, at a minimum, require learning a new interface but the additional cost of the Avid over Apple's Final Cut Pro was also of concern.

"Since we work on such a variety of projects--both broadcast and non-broadcast--from television commercials to hour-long documentary projects, with typically several projects in development at any one time, we needed a system with power and flexibility. We found that in the Adrenaline," notes Tam co-founder, Tam O'Connor Fraser. He added, "Features such as one-step color correction, 24-bit audio editing, and support for mixed resolutions were definite plusses. The biggest advavntage of the Adrenaline though came in speed--both in render time and real-time effects."

With the Adrenaline HD, Tam is also positioned to move into HD as clients and projects require. "For us, it's a tool. It's still creativity and great story telling that drives our business. The best tools are those that allow the creative process to flow unencumbered by technology. We've already seen that in the new system."

The new Avid is already being put through its paces. New commercials for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Nations Hamburgers were recently posted on the Adrenaline along with corporate videos for KLA-Tencor and Ruckus Wireless.
