Cal State East Bay first approached us to help with their freshmen recruiting when they were still Cal State Hayward. They wanted a "virtual tour" but not the typical campus fly-through. We instead suggested that they tell the university's story through their student's eyes and proceeded to produce a web-based, video-intensive experience that would appeal to an under-20 year old audience.
The process began by identifying students that would give us a representative sample of the diverse student population--gender, ethnicity, personality, majors, and campus involvement. We then followed our nine students, seeing the campus and the university programs as they saw them, even handing them cameras to get their true view of what made the university such a special place to obtain a college education. The finished piece can be viewed at www.csueastbay.edu/virtual_tour/
